James Gunn Will Begin Work on Peacemaker Season 2 Immediately After Superman Legacy

Must read

James Gunn has revealed that work on Peacemaker Season 2 will begin as soon as he's wrapped up DCU's opener Superman: Legacy.

Speaking on the Inside of You podcast, Gunn shared a little on how Peacemaker would fit into the already incredibly busy DCU schedule that includes five films and five shows of its own.

"Peacemaker's coming back right after I do Superman. That's my next thing," Gunn said plainly. "I'll go straight into Peacemaker from Superman."

That doesn't mean it will be the next DC project released after Superman: Legacy, of course, as Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran have yet to date either Peacemaker Season 2 or the Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters schedule.

It also takes a long time to make these shows, and with Superman: Legacy set to premiere on July 11, 2025, it's relatively safe to assume that Peacemaker Season 2 won't be coming until 2026 at the very earliest but probably later. That will mark at least a four year waiting period from the first season which kicked off on January 13, 2022.

It's also not been made clear how Peacemaker will fit into the new DCU, or if it will be left as a remnant of the DCEU that's set to be officially wiped in The Flash.

In our 8/10 review of Season 1's opener, IGN said: "The premiere of Peacemaker, James Gunn’s HBO Max spin-off of The Suicide Squad, tackles the problems of vigilantism with goofy humour and tons of violence."
