Shazam! Fury of the Gods will be available on digital beginning tomorrow, April 7, less than a month after its theatrical release. Warner Bros. announced the streaming date today alongside the news that Shazam 2 is coming to 4K UHD and Blu-ray on May 23. The digital version will cost $24.99 to own, or $19.99 for a 48-hour rental period.
It's a very early streaming date for Shazam 2, which failed to take off at the box office after its release on March 17. The movie saw a 69% decline in its second weekend as John Wick 4 easily steamrolled past it.
DC left Shazam 2 in a bit of an awkward spot prior to its release. James Gunn and Peter Safran unveiled their Shazam-less master plan for the DCU just six weeks prior to Shazam 2's release date, although Shazam director David F. Sandberg continued to say there was a path forward for more Shazam in the future. DC's marketing campaign even spoiled the movie's biggest cameo to try and generate a little more buzz.
There's been plenty of drama surrounding Shazam! Fury of the Gods since it hit theaters, with star Zachary Levi taking aim at Black Adam's Dwayne Johnson, saying the Rock blocked a Black Adam post-credits scene that would have brought the two characters together.

Meanwhile, Sandberg responded to the movie's middling critical reception by saying he's "definitely done with superheroes for now." We said Shazam 2 was good in our review, calling it a "breezy, often funny second outing for Billy Batson and his family of young heroes."
