Stardew Valley Developer Promises New Content in Patch 1.6

Must read

Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone, also known as ConcernedApe, has promised he'll deliver new content in the Version 1.6 update.

The developer announced on Twitter Monday saying he's working on the new update, and that he's pausing development on Haunted Chocolatier in order to do so. The update will mostly come with features that allow modders to mod elements of Stardew Valley more easily. The game will also receive other new content, but the package will be smaller than it was in the Version 1.5 update.

There is going to be a Stardew 1.6 update. It's mostly changes for modders (which will make it easier & more powerful to mod). But there is also new game content, albeit much less than 1.5. I'm taking a break from Haunted Chocolatier to work on this at the moment. Then back to HC

One of the fans replied to ConcernedApe's tweet asking about the type of other new content that will be added with the Version 1.6 patch, specifically whether the characters will have more dialogue. He confirmed that "the new update will have some more dialogues," and that it is currently being added into the game.

Taking a break from Haunted Chocolatier

Stardew Valley received the Version 1.5 update back in October 2020, marking the upcoming update the first patch to come in nearly three years. Known as the Ginger Island update, the 1.5 patch brought splitscreen co-op to both console and PC. However, the PC version of Stardew Valley allowed up to 4-player splitscreen co-op while other platforms have limited it to two.

Meanwhile, ConcernedApe announced Haunted Chocolatier in 2021, which will be centered on the player character running a chocolate shop and gathering the ingredients needed to make chocolate. At the time, he said that because paranormal elements are involved, Haunted Chocolatier represents the moon while Stardew Valley represents the sun.

Haunted Chocolatier hasn't received a release date since its announcement. ConcernedApe didn't specify when he'll continue developing the game following Stardew Valley's Version 1.6 update.
