Wednesday Beats Dahmer as Netflix's Second Most Watched Show of All-Time

Must read

Netflix’s Wednesday just eviscerated Dahmer to become the online streamer’s second most-watched show of all time.

According to Variety, the popular Addams Family spin-off from Tim Burton has been viewed for over 1 billion hours within one month. In fact, it’s only the third show to do so, following in the footsteps of Squid Game and Stranger Things Season 4.

Stranger Things still holds onto the top spot with 1.352 billion hours watched, but Wednesday, which debuted to critical success just a few weeks ago, has managed an impressive 1.02 billion hours so far.

It’s unlikely that Wednesday will manage to topple Stranger Things at this stage, however, as to do so would require another 352.1 million hours.

Jenna Ortega stars as Wednesday Addams in the series, the iconic daughter of Morticia and Gomez Addams who was previously played by Christina Ricci.

But while Ricci also joined the cast of Wednesday, Ortega felt it was important to make the role her own. “Honestly, it was more difficult than I was anticipating,” said Ortega. “Because everything that [Ricci] did is so flawless.”

Wednesday sees the young Addams teen heading off to Nevermore, a school for outcasts where all is not quite as it seems.

IGN’s review of Wednesday gave it 7/10 and said: “Wednesday introduces a whole new generation to the Addams family with creepy and kooky hijinks and an incredible performance from Jenna Ortega. Some tertiary characters struggle from weak writing while more interesting players are kept on the sidelines, but it’s not enough to bog down the series too much.”
